We make every effort to clear the swim area of debris prior to the race, but please watch where you step, the race start will be in ankle deep water where you may encounter rocks, shells or other debris.**

WATER TEMPERATURE: While the average water temperature for this time of year is typically between 72º & 74º, mother nature has other plans for us this year. The water is currently at 64º. We expect the water to warm up a few more degrees by the weekend but we can assure you that our desert sun provides quite a bit of warmth. If you have the opportunity to swim on Friday, that may calm your anxiety. You may switch to a wetsuit division in person only at packet pick up. We can not make changes the day of the race.
WEATHER CONDITIONS: At 8 a.m. we can look forward to 82º Air Temperature, 6 mph wind with 7 mph gusts. We will be monitoring conditions throughout the week but do warn of the possibility that the race could be ended early due to high winds around 11 a.m.
POST RACE: Massage Envy will be at the finish line for a free massage! Swim Las Vegas will provide healthy snacks and water at the food tent starting at 9:00 am.
SPECTATORS: We encourage you to bring family and friends to cheer you on! Boulder Beach has no shade, so remind your posse to bring sunscreen, shade tents and their own chairs. Please no glass or Styrofoam. Please wear shoes while walking around the area.
SAFETY: Your safety is our absolute priority. There will be an ambulance on site for any medical issues located on the ramp leading to the water. The water will be patrolled by lifeguards, National Park Service rangers and experienced kayakers. Every swimmer must be accounted for pre and post race. Please keep on your swim cap until you are tagged by a volunteer at the finish line exit. Any swimmer with a removed swim cap at the finish line will be assumed a DNF.
POLICIES: If we must cancel due to unsafe winds, thunderstorms or other conditions outside of our control we ask that you cooperate with our volunteers and the National Park Service staff. There is no reschedule date for this swim and no refunds. Our amazing volunteers will be monitoring all aspects of the swim so again, please do not leave the course early without checking-out with a volunteer at the timing tent.
Of course we all want the safest event as possible and open water safety starts with you! Be smart about your personal race day condition: Don't swim if you are sick, injured, having an "off day" or aren't prepared physically or mentally for the conditions. Open water can be challenging, which is why we love it but, look out for other swimmers and be smart! If you run into any issues on the course, float on your back with a raised arm or stay with a paddler while they call for help.
We are looking forward to a great day on the water, thank you for choosing to race with us!
