10K (6.2M) Open Water Swim Race In Lake Mead
Relay events will be conducted in three categories: 4 women, 4 men, & 4 person mixed (any combination of male and female). The youngest relay member’s age determines the relay’s age group.
Age groups: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, etc. Each participant will swim 1 lap on the 10k course. All members of the relay must be present and checked in on race day. Please choose 1 division: wetsuit or non wetsuit . If one member of your team wears a wetsuit, your relay is in the wetsuit division. The Team Leader must have each member of the relay fill out and sign their own registration form and waiver, include this completed page with entry fees. |
You have 4 hours to complete the 10k (6.2 Mile) swim. Course closes at 12 p.m.
Water temperature at Lake Mead is expected to be 74º. In an effort to streamline race morning activities and to reduce your stress, packet pick up is 100% mandatory on May 16th at Rachel's Kitchen. The cost for the entire relay team is: $120.00 and must be paid in full. Price increases on 3/31 to $140 and on 5/15 price increases to $155. Incomplete forms will be returned. |
10K Swim RELAY: 1 lap per person
LOCATION: Boulder Beach Swim Beach inside Lake Mead NRA, Boulder City Nevada. 21 Miles south of Las Vegas NV. Take Nevada Hwy/US-93 south to Lake Mead NRA. Turn west at Lakeshore Rd/NV-147 W/NV-166 N. Boulder Beach Special Events Beach will be 3 miles from the toll booth entry. There is a $10 fee to enter the park.
COURSE: 10k will complete 4 full “T” loops. A feed table will be set up at the shore line in knee deep water. Participants will provide their own hydration and nutrition. Swimmers are required to pass the feed table that will be located near the start/ finish area during each lap as part of the course. Each swimmer will be marked per lap. If by the 3rd lap you are endanger of missing the cut off, you will be asked not to continue. ELIGIBILITY: Ability to swim 10K in 4 hours or less. SAFETY OUR PRIMARY CONCERN: Safety boats, kayakers, jet skis, turn judges and lifeguards will monitor the course and medical personnel will be on-site. Swimmers must wear the swim cap provided for their distance until they exit the water via the finish shoot, must display their race number and follow all announced safety rules without exception and may not give their cap to another person to swim the course or will be banned from future events. WARNING Participants should be adequately trained for competition. Experience swimming in windy, choppy conditions and cooler water is strongly recommended, as is the ability to complete the distance. RESULTS: Preliminary results will available 15 min after the first finisher comes in and every 15 min after. Official results will be posted www.LV10k.com in a timely manner. AWARDS: Top 1-3 overall as swimmers exit the water. There will be no award ceremony. Swimmers will be treated to a post race massage from Massage Envy. Wetsuits category are not eligible for awards. REFUND, TRANSFER & CANCELLATION POLICY Swim Las Vegas does not provide refunds for event cancellation due to weather, circumstances beyond our control or personal entry withdraws after March 1. TRANSFERS to another person are allowed up until 2 weeks prior to the race for the exact distance. Swim Las Vegas does not transfer entries to other events due to the costs associated with putting on each race. When you sign up for the race, you agree to these rules, please do not email asking for an exception. Swim Las Vegas is a non-profit Nevada corporation run by volunteers. There are a lot of behind-the-scenes time and effort that go into making this event happen. Your entry fee helps cover: mandatory permits, mandatory insurance, swim caps, timing fees, equipment rentals, buoys, sound system services, participant and volunteer tee shirts, food and beverages, web services, advertising, printing and race day operations. Not included in your fees are the 100’s of volunteer man hours that go into putting on a quality, well run, accurately measured race course. Boulder Beach
For those arriving to town early, swimmers can test the waters at Boulder Beach located inside Lake Mead NRA. There is a $10 fee to enter the park.
Boulder Beach is open sunrise to sunset and does not have lifeguards. Swim inside the white buoy lines and please, do not swim alone. Swimmers Itch is known to be present at Lake Mead. It is not a life threatening condition, but may result in small bites. Briskly towel off after exiting the water. |
